Five Live Nation Studios projects brought music, film, and artist-driven storytelling together at one of the world’s premier film festivals.

Live Nation Studios made a major showing at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, bringing five distinctive projects to screens across New York City. From documentaries and visual albums to scripted storytelling, the lineup showcased the studio’s growing ability to translate the voices, experiences, and creative visions of artists into compelling film and television.

The Live Nation Studios slate included Miley Cyrus’ Something Beautiful, Billy Idol Should Be Dead, Ty Dolla $ign’s Still Free TC, Becky G’s Rebbeca, and Anderson .Paak’s K-Pops!—a collection of projects spanning genres, generations, and storytelling formats.

Music Stories Take the Spotlight

Music has long been at the heart of the Tribeca Festival, and the 2025 lineup placed artist-driven filmmaking firmly in the spotlight. Live Nation Studios’ five projects demonstrated just how many forms those stories can take.

Miley Cyrus brought Something Beautiful to the festival as a visual companion to her album of the same name, combining music, fashion, performance, and cinematic imagery into an ambitious pop opera. Billy Idol Should Be Dead, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, takes a different approach, exploring the punk icon’s remarkable life, rise to fame, personal struggles, and enduring career through archival material and intimate interviews.

Ty Dolla $ign’s Still Free TC offers an intensely personal portrait of the artist and his relationship with his incarcerated brother, Gabriel. Filmed over two years, the documentary intertwines Ty’s creative process with a story of family, separation, and the experiences that have shaped both his life and his music.

Rebbeca similarly turns inward, following Becky G as she explores her roots, identity, family, and personal history while embarking on one of the most meaningful creative chapters of her career.

Expanding Beyond the Music Documentary

The Live Nation Studios presence at Tribeca also extended into scripted filmmaking with Anderson .Paak’s K-Pops!.

Directed, co-written, and starring .Paak, the film follows a musician who travels to South Korea for a career opportunity only to discover that his long-lost son is competing on the same music competition show. Blending comedy, music, Korean and Black culture, and a deeply personal father-son story, K-Pops! demonstrates how artist-driven storytelling can move beyond traditional documentaries and concert films into original narrative filmmaking.

Together, the five projects presented at Tribeca reflect the breadth of what Live Nation Studios has become: a home for stories inspired by music but not limited by format.
